About Summer

For over a decade, I have had the unique pleasure of reading, reviewing, and recommending my Books-A-Million favorites to readers all over the world. Like BAM!, I’m originally from Alabama, and from there, I journeyed deeper into the South to sit at the table of Southern Gothic Literature at The University of Mississippi, which necessitated a decade-long stint in New York and Los Angeles. Throughout my life journey, the written word has stayed as a constant companion and compass. I returned South in 2018 and am now fortunate to call the beautiful Lowcountry home. Connecting with authors, publishers, creators, and library aficionados is my greatest passion. Whether browsing my table for the latest and greatest in-store finds or following @thesummersays on Instagram, I hope you’ll find joy in these books so well-loved they must be shared. Summer lives in Charleston, South Carolina, with her family and beloved Lab, Felix. When she’s not reading, you’ll find her soaking up the salty sea with her girls, watching and cheering from the soccer sidelines, and driving her 1972 Chevy truck, “Betty White.”
