What an incredible end-of-summer read that holds all the nostalgia of a feral childhood, while at the same time portraying how unsettling it would be to be neglected for the majority of that period. The four Cousins children and the two Keating girls end up becoming family after Bert Cousins crashes a Christening party and a bottle of gin loosens the ties of marriage. This book is an addictive and exhilarating read!
