Oh William!
Elizabeth Strout's writing is irresistible to me, much like Lucy Barton's character, whom we meet again in Strout's third book about her. Sidenote: I don't believe you need to have read the previous two to jump in here.
This book is a powerful examination of Lucy’s complex yet tender relationship with her ex-husband, William. It also explores the depth of poverty she had to rise above to become a well-known author and uncovers family secrets that you would never have imagined in a million years. Strout delivers a master class in communicating the nuances of relationships and what it is to be human. One of my favorite writers doing her thing, and so wonderfully well!
