The Glass Hotel
A beautiful tale about a luxury hotel set on a wooded island in Canada - where an attractive bartender, Vincent, her half-brother, Paul, and her friend, Melissa, are all employed while figuring out what to do with their lives. On the day that the owner, Johnathan Alkaitis arrives from his sprawling estate in Connecticut, Paul writes a note with an acid pen on the windowed wall of the hotel: "Why don't you swallow broken glass." From this point, the book picks up steam, and what unfolds is a surprising arrangement fronting as a marriage, a Ponzi scheme, and a murder that occurs 13 years later.
