The Paper Palace
This book is my absolute favorite for the summer, and I'm thrilled it comes out in June. "A story of summer, secrets, love, and lies: in the course of a singular day on Cape Cod, one woman must make a life-changing decision that has been brewing for decades." Inside her family's beach compound, Elle, a happily married mother of three, creeps out the back door and has sex with Jonas, her lifelong best friend, while their spouses and children are inside enjoying a regular July evening. Now Elle will have to decide if she is staying with the life she has built with her husband, Peter, or the life that was always a possibility with Jonas. The writing is so intelligent, and the characters are so deftly drawn; it was as if heaven opened up and out fell the book of my dreams. The amount of irreverence the adults display, generation to generation, is so entertaining I can only say you will be entertained full tilt from the first page to the last.
