Beasts of the Southern Wild

Six-year-old Hushpuppy lives in devastated Louisiana settlement “on the wrong side of the levee” called The Bathtub. The film is told entirely from her point of view, which often blurs the line between fantasy and reality. Hushpuppy is played by Quvenzhané Wallis, a non-professional actor (like all the others in the film) and her magnetic performance is nothing short of devastating. It’s a film full of mystery and complexity that absolutely must be seen. This was my favorite film from Sundance last year. - Summer
