First Person Singular: Stories
In the eight stories of this collection, many subjects are touched upon; the one common thread is that they are all written in first person singular. As you read, you wonder if they are autobiographical or fiction, and that is for each person to decide. My guess is, like most writers, it’s a lot of both. Love, sex, belonging, jazz, baseball, and writing are all areas of interest here and showcase the enduring and dazzling talent that we have come to recognize as quintessential Murakami.
