Lucy by the Sea
I love the writing of Elizabeth Strout, her incredible characters, especially Olive Kitteridge, the pace of her novels, and her ability to connect the essence of humanity with the written word. We revisit the unassailable character Lucy Barton from her two previous books as she lives through the pandemic's early days. This is the first time I have sat down with a book looking back to those first days, and it was very interesting to revisit that time that wasn't very long ago but, at the same time, feels like it was, as Lucy figure-eights in and out of her relationships with different people: her daughters, her ex-husband, William, as well as the new people she encounters since William rented a house in Maine and she fled the city with him. Another gorgeous book by one of my favorite authors!
