Simon the Fiddler

After reading and falling in love with 'News Of The World,' I will most assuredly read and relish anything that Paulette Jiles writes. She has an uncanny ability to inhabit the wild, wild west of Texas, and in this book it’s revealed at the tail-end of the Civil War. Simon, indeed a fiddler of the very skilled variety, joins up with a few raggedy musicians, and they travel the coast of Texas while trying to feed themselves. When Simon spots the Irish governess of a Union Colonel's daughter, he commits himself to finding her again and somehow, against all the odds, building a life with her.
