Summer Snow
From his first poetry collections published since 2010, Summer Snow is a perfect antidote in these hard and scary times. Although, in another moment, this much loved and heralded former poet-laureate has the chops to bring solace and sighs to the human experience. I’m certain I've never loved a poem as much as 'A Talk At Sewanee,' and have read it every day since getting this book. I love the way Haas can veer off topic only to wheel right back again just when you think, 'wasn't this about something totally different?' That might not be the best advertisement for this collection, but rest assured, he is one of the masters of the game. To dwell in his poetry is a much-needed vacation in quarantine or any other time in life.
