The Angel of History

In “The Angel of History,” the first two characters you meet are Satan and Death. From there, you’ll go on to meet 14 saints that all exist in the head of the main character, Jacob, as he is having a mental breakdown. Jacob was raised in a house of ill repute by his mother and his adopted aunt in the Middle East. The story continues into his adulthood, where Jacob mourns the loss of his partner. As we saw in his earlier book, “An Unnecessary Woman,” Alameddine is a brilliant writer and this book, as wild as it gets, will astound and delight.
