Let me begin by saying, in my eyes, James McBride is unequivocally the best author of today. His two previous books, The Good Lord Bird and Deacon King Kong, dazzled me, and his newest novel has done it again. 

Set in 1972 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, a community called Chicken Hill where Jews and African Americans coexist, a human skeleton was unearthed, and the truth could be found in the hearts and minds going back decades. Still, that secret wasn't going to be told any time soon. Prepare yourself for this incredible work of fiction that puts community and love center stage. McBride's talent, heart, and wit leave me spellbound and speechless every single time.
