Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay
The third book in the Neapolitan novels is more political, as Elena graduates from college and finds a husband from a well-respected academic dynasty. She publishes a successful novel, but struggles with her newfound fame and wealth in contrast to where she came from. Meanwhile, Lila's life has turned out quite differently—divorced with a child and working a devastating factory job. Both are pushing the limits of the opporunities life can offer young women in the seventies, all the while searching for happiness. The end of this book kept me up all night reeling in disbelief! This book is not to be missed.
