Three Women
I heard from so many people how good this book was—how they’d love to chat but couldn’t put this new book down. When that happened more than once, I knew I had to read it. Lisa Taddeo studies the lives and desires of three women over the course of eight years. Though they are all white, the women are quite different. Sloane is a glamorous and wealthy restauranteur with a privileged upbringing. Lina, like Sloane, is married and has sexual relationships outside of her marriage, but for very different reasons than Sloane. Lastly there is Maggie, who had an affair with her English teacher in high school and now in her early twenties recounts her story. What’s fascinating to me about this book is how uncomfortable our society continues to be with the concept of female desire. “Three Women” shines a floodlight on the sexual truth and the journeys of these women. One thing is for sure: you won’t be able to put it down.
